People of WeAre: Meet Irena Śliwa, Marketing Manager at Peakforce

Behind every project at WeAre are people with different backgrounds, skills and stories to share. In our People of WeAre series, we introduce the colleagues who make up our teams across Finland and Poland, exploring their work, experiences and life beyond the office.

This time, meet Irena Śliwa, Marketing Manager at Peakforce.

Where It All Began

Irena’s journey into marketing wasn’t exactly a straight line. With interests ranging from graphic design and creative projects to technology, she was looking for an opportunity to put her skills into practice while studying at university.

That’s when she came across a part-time marketing position at Peakforce on LinkedIn. The opportunity seemed almost too good to be true. The salary was attractive, the working hours suited her studies, and surprisingly few people had applied.

There was just one small detail, though: Peakforce didn’t have a website, and its LinkedIn page was practically empty.

Thankfully, the company was real. And what initially looked like a slightly unusual job opportunity turned into a chance for Irena to build something of her own.

Today, she works as a Marketing Manager at Peakforce, which became part of WeAre Solutions in November 2025. Her role has grown alongside the company, bringing new responsibilities, creative challenges, and opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across Poland and Finland.

A creative path into the world of IT

Irena’s interest in creative work began long before she started her career in marketing.

She became interested in graphic design in middle school, took on small creative projects during her school years, and eventually managed two social media accounts as a side hustle.

Her academic journey, however, initially took a different direction.

Good at mathematics and interested in technology, Irena decided to study cybersecurity, hoping she might become a developer. But as she jokingly puts it, “the math wasn’t mathing.”

Marketing eventually felt like a better fit. Her experience managing the marketing department of a student television organisation had already given her an opportunity to explore the creative and organisational side of the field.

With an understanding of IT and a growing interest in marketing, Peakforce turned out to be the right place to bring those interests together.

When she joined, there was plenty to do. The company’s marketing presence was still in its early stages, and Irena initially worked closely with Peakforce CEO Wiktor, who guided her work and suggested topics.

When Irena joined Peakforce over 5 years ago, we were a small Atlassian consultancy with almost no marketing presence. Today it’s hard to imagine the company without her. She built our presence on LinkedIn and social media from scratch, runs our event and campaign work, and somewhere along the way also became the person responsible for spreading the word about Atlassian. She doesn’t just stay inside her job description, she picks up whatever moves the company forward. What I’ve seen over the years is real growth in her ownership and how she takes over whole topics.  She went from just completing tasks to shaping how we present ourselves, now across both Peakforce and WeAre. What I appreciate most is her proactivity, long-term thinking and creativity. Looking forward to the next 5 years of working together.

As she gained experience, so did her responsibilities. She gradually took more ownership of marketing activities, developed her own ideas and started shaping the company’s marketing strategy.

No two days are quite the same

Ask Irena what a typical working day looks like, and her answer is simple:

“Every day is different, and I love it!”

Her responsibilities range from content creation and copywriting to website development, social selling activities, and planning future marketing initiatives.

Working in a technology company also means getting comfortable with subjects that can be difficult to explain. At Peakforce, marketing often involves technical topics, particularly Atlassian and Splunk solutions.

For Irena, the challenge is finding the right balance between making information understandable and preserving the technical details that matter.

Most of the time, I try to simplify the topic enough so that the content reads well, but without stripping it of the details that make it expert-level.

One project she is particularly proud of is the Peakforce website.

After initially relying on a simple WordPress landing page, the company decided to develop a more comprehensive website with dedicated service pages and a blog. Working with the company responsible for its design and implementation, Irena contributed to creating the website, writing articles and developing its content.

It remains an ongoing project, and one she enjoys seeing evolve.

For Irena, the satisfaction comes not only from completing a campaign or publishing an article, but also from seeing how the work she started years ago has developed into something much bigger.

One team across Poland and Finland

November 2025 marked another important chapter when Peakforce became part of WeAre Solutions.

For Irena, the news came as both a surprise and an exciting opportunity.

After years of working within a smaller team, becoming part of WeAre opened the door to collaborating with more people and taking part in a wider range of marketing activities.

What made the change easier was how familiar the working environment felt.

WeAre is similar to Peakforce when it comes to the atmosphere and values, and that made the transition even smoother.

Irena was also proud that the company she had helped promote and develop had attracted WeAre’s interest.

Although the teams work across two countries, she feels their approaches to working together have much in common. As she sees it, Finnish and Polish working cultures are not necessarily as different as people might expect.

For someone whose work involves bringing people, ideas and technical expertise together, becoming part of a larger international team has been an important step in her professional journey.

At the same time, the independence she valued at Peakforce has remained an important part of her experience.

Trust, flexibility and being heard

When Irena talks about what she appreciates most about working at Peakforce and WeAre, she doesn’t start with the projects or the technology.

She starts with trust.

“I appreciate the freedom and trust that comes with our company culture.”

Having the independence to plan her work, share ideas, and make decisions matters a great deal to her.

She values not being micromanaged, knowing that her opinions are respected, and feeling comfortable discussing difficult subjects openly.

In her experience, both Peakforce and WeAre place importance on employee well-being and honest communication. Rather than avoiding uncomfortable conversations, people can address problems directly.

Remote work and flexible hours are another important part of that experience. For Irena, they make it possible to organise her responsibilities in a way that works for her, while still feeling supported by the people around her.

And although much of the collaboration happens remotely, meeting colleagues in person matters too.

One of her favourite occasions is the WeAre Winter Party, which brings colleagues together and creates an opportunity to spend time with people beyond everyday meetings and projects.

These experiences have shaped what she would tell someone in Poland who is considering joining Peakforce or WeAre.

She believes the environment is particularly well suited to people who enjoy working independently, value open communication and feel comfortable taking responsibility for their work.

A little creativity outside work, too

Irena’s creative interests don’t end when she closes her laptop.

She has also worked as a video editor and still enjoys doing occasional video projects, both for Peakforce and in her free time.

Outside work, she likes reading books and graphic novels, occasionally playing the ukulele and learning to draw.

And then there’s her rescued dog, whom she affectionately describes as “a bit old and crazy, but still the best boy!”

It’s a small glimpse into the person behind the campaigns, websites, and social media posts.

Looking back, Irena’s story is one of growing into a role while helping a company grow with her.

She joined Peakforce at a time when there was plenty of room to experiment, learn and take responsibility. Now, as part of WeAre, she has the opportunity to continue that journey alongside a larger team.

What she values hasn’t changed much: the freedom to do meaningful work, colleagues who listen, and the trust to turn her ideas into something real.

And for someone who once wondered whether that first job advertisement was too good to be true, things have worked out rather well.
